Instructor Development (5 Day Course)

This five day course is designed to grow NRA, USCCA or other primary firearms instructors, teaching administrators, or senior instructors who are dedicated and committed to bringing the best, most recent, and relevant training tactics and teaching methods to their students.

The shooting qualification of this class is specifically developed to test the skills, safe gun handling, and techniques taught in this course.

Students will be challenged to analyze their current curriculum and practices for overall performance enhancement. Students who successfully complete this course will receive a POST Instructor Training Certificate valid for 4 years.


Prerequisite:

This is not an entry level course.  Attendees must be a certified firearms instructor through an academy or certified through another nationally recognized instructor development program such as NRA, USCCA, etc. Other experience will be considered via interview with the instructor.  Background checks will be conducted for all registrants of this class to determine students' eligibility to possess a firearm in California.

Topics to be covered:
  • Principles of firearms training
  • Objective based training
  • Adult learning theory to firearms fraining
  • Performance based training versus outcome based training
  • Understanding and teaching visual input necessary for success
  • Deconstruction of conventional training and all of the "why's and why not's"
  • Skills, drills, and scenarios for survival
  • Video analysis for performance growth and correction
  • Active shooter response scenarios and answers to "What would you do if...?"
  • Introduction to low light pistol shooting
Required equipment:
  • Full size or compact semi-automatic, center fired pistol (9mm or larger) in good working order
  • Double magazine pouch + three magazines (rentals possible)
  • Sturdy belt at least 1.5" wide
  • Dominant side hip mounted or belt mounted holster
  • 1000 rounds - no reloads or hollow points
  • Active noise reduction hearing protection (available for use, if needed)
  • Wrap-around eye protection
  • Closed toe shoes that allow for rapid movement
  • Water; snacks

Tuition:  $1500 per student

Class is conducted at a private, outdoor range.  Please check the weather and dress accordingly.  While not required, hat and sunscreen are recommended as is a loading device, such as Uplula.

No green/brown tip, armor piercing, or surrogate rounds to be used on steel at any time.
NO Ammunition is available for purchase from LFT. 

In order to earn a certificate of completion, students are required to demonstrate proper safe gun handling of a pistol in any environment through attending up to sixteen hours of training.  Instructor candidates will demonstrate proper application of the fundamentals of shooting and weapon manipulations through a series of challenging evaluation courses adhering to specific target standards established by Liberty Firearms Training.  Safety violations are taken seriously and appropriate correction will be deployed in the event a primary rule is breeched.

**Students who are unable to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or cannot demonstrate the minimum skills required for this class may be removed from training.  Please read the class description and prerequisites before enrolling.
