Skills, Drills, and Scenarios (SDS)

This is an advanced level course with one goal: teaching you how to survive a deadly encounter armed with your handgun. Students will be exposed to defensive handgun drills designed to improve your skills. Don’t let this scare you. It is a fun class!

Prerequisite:

Students must possess a CCW or have completed Handgun 103 or its equivalent.  Phone interviews will be conducted for those without a CCW before admittance to the course.  

Topics will vary from class to class and may include:
  • Speed draws
  • Emergency reloads
  • Shooting in low-light conditions
  • Identifying threats
  • Turning and shooting
  • Shooting while moving
  • Use of cover
  • Single-hand only shooting
Required Equipment:
  • Full size or compact semi-automatic pistol preferred
  • 300 rounds
  • 3 magazines
  • Magazine pouch
  • Dominant side, OWB hip mounted or belt mounted holster
  • Eye and ear protection
  • Closed toe shoes that allow for rapid movement and turning
  • No low cut necklines
  • Loading device such as Uplula, optional
  • Water; lunch/snacks
  • Hat and sunscreen, recommended.
Additional Notes:

Tuition for this course is $150 per person. 

We require a minimum of six students for this class.  If the minimum is not met, instructor reserves the right to reschedule.

**This is not an entry level course. Students should be experienced shooters, showing mastery of the basic skills of safe gun handling. Students who are unable to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or cannot demonstrate the minimum skills required may be removed from training.
