This is harder than I thought! After almost 10 years, I have made the difficult decision to hang up the holster and walk away from a job that I have loved. As I write this, I can’t help but reflect on the many hundreds of students that I have had the privilege of training. All ages. All walks of life. All united with a common goal. And many of them have become friends as we’ve kept up with each other long after that first class was taken.
I have loved this part of my life and the many people that I have come to know. A lot of great conversations and stories were shared at the range. So much laughter! The moments when students were surprised to find that Jean is a girl were particularly amusing. A girly-girl at that, which made women more comfortable knowing that there wasn’t a box they had to fit into if they wanted to learn to shoot guns and enjoy range days.
I’m proud of the work we’ve done here since Guy founded LFT and then entrusted it to me. Now the torch has been passed to my good friend and co-instructor, Ron Givens. Rest assured that Liberty Firearms Training is not going away. Bill McCarver and Jim Amentler are great LFT instructors. And I am thrilled to see Jason Caruso, another highly trained Marine, added to our instructor roster. All of LFTs instructors are now honorably discharged United States Veterans from the Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force.
I’ll still be around, wrapping up the few classes that I am committed to teaching. I have my LFT email and I will occasionally be posting to our social media page. And you never know when I’ll add a special range day to the calendar.
Thank you for the stories, the laughs, the memories, shooting steel with me, and for friendships I will always treasure. Thank you for continuing to trust LFT with your training. Great things are ahead!
PS: Training is important. Be an asset, not a liability!
